    PROJECT

Compressed air system solution for industrial coating system

PROJECT INFOS

KSI reduces costs with BOGE

The challange
The design of a new overall system for the supply of compressed air was required for the coating plants at KSI. The system should operate reliably and exploit any potential for efficiency enhancement to the fullest extent.

The BOGE solution
After a precise analysis of the operating conditions, a tailor-made system solution was developed which would make significant savings in the production of compressed air.

The result
The optimal harmonisation of all the components, the elimination of leaks in the old system and the reduction in pressure from 9.6 to 8.5 bar resulted in annual cost savings of more than 13,000 €.

The medium-sized family business KSI – Klaus Stahl Industrielackierungen GmbH, based in Schifferstadt, Germany, is a specialist in industrial coating and painting and has become an established name both in Germany and far beyond. The company carries out contract coating orders in the form of CDP powder coating, liquid paint coating, pad printing and electrophoretic painting of steel, galvanised steel and aluminium. In order to increase the reliability and efficiency of the compressed air supply, the company chose to work with BOGE.

After carrying out a precise analysis of the requirements, BOGE presented KSI with a complete system comprising an S 100 range and an S 61-2 compressor together with a frequency controlled SF 100-2 compressor. The combined action of these compressors is optimally coordinated by BOGE’s airtelligence provis master controls. The overall confi guration combined with a compressor that has frequency regulation makes it possible to adjust the compressor output fl exibly to meet the current demand, thus ensuring maximum operating effi ciency at all times.

And if this is not enough: as part of the optimisation process, the BOGE team was also able to eliminate existing leaks in the old system. In addition, the pressure was reduced from a maximum of 9.6 bar to 8.5 bar. The heat recovery system that had already been in operation for some time was also carried forward consistently into the new system. All of these measures combined resulted in a saving of 10,000 kW per month, which at a price of 0.11 €/kW amounts to total annual savings of 13,200 € for KSI. This is a good example of just how quickly investment in a BOGE system is recouped!
