BOGE and Fraunhofer UMSICHT are starting a research project

28 March was the date of the first official project meeting for the research project between BOGE and Fraunhofer UMSICHT. We are now dedicating ourselves jointly to an issue that is relevant both to climate policy and society: the sustainable storage of electricity from renewable energy sources. By 2019 we aim to have developed technology for storing compressed air energy that will accumulate power from wind, for example, in a cost-efficient way and which will quickly make it available again to cover shortfalls in energy. Up to now wind power has been lost due to a lack of efficient energy storage facilities, particularly in northern Germany where there is plenty of wind. The research project, which is due to run for three years, receives funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
